MEMBERSHIP

Become a member

MGPS membership is open to all working and retired Gujarati journalists, residing anywhere in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region or MMR, in accordance with its membership rules and regulations.

There are three categories of members one can avail of based on her/his affinity with Gujarati journalism, as following:

Regular member:

  • Open for all working or retired Gujarati mediapersons from the editorial sections like - news / features / editing / subediting / photo journalism / production departments - of any print / electronic / digital / audio media organisations.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a working Gujarati journalists or for a retired journalist, minimum 15 years of experience as a Gujarati journalist is required to be a regular member.
  • A regular journalist is the one who contributes in the editorial through writing or editing or subediting or production of news and feature contents for print or electronic or digital or audio media.

Associate member:

  • Open for all mediapersons from non-editorial departments - including but not limited to reading, proofreading, designing, advertising and marketing, account, admin, printing - from print or electronic or digital or audio media organisations.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience of Gujarati journalism for working mediapersons or 15 years of experience of Gujarati journalism for retired mediapersons is required to be an associate member.

Patron member:

  • Only those who are invited by MGPS office bearers can become patron members.
  • Please contact us in case you believe you can be an MGPS patron member. Your request for the same will be duly considered and the decision of MGPS will be communicated with you.

FEE STRUCTURE

Regular member:

  • Admission fee: Rs. 1,000
  • Validity: 1 year or 31 March of the membership year, whichever is earlier
  • Annual renewal fee: Rs. 500

Associate member:

  • Admission fee: Rs. 1,000
  • Validity: 1 year or 31 March of the membership year, whichever is earlier
  • Annual renewal fee: Rs. 500

Patron member:

  • Admission fee: Rs. 11,000
  • Validity: 3 year or 31 March of the third membership year, whichever is earlier
  • Renewal fee: Rs. 11,000

Fill up the membership form suiting your profile and as required.
Submit relevant documents.
Pay required membership fee.
Wait for approval and onboarding.

Membership benefits:

Regular Membership:

  • Recognition as an MGPS member through an identity card, as per applicable validity. Issued digitally.
  • Participating in all academic, social, welfare and other MGPS events as per applicable rules and regulations.
  • Voting rights in MGPS elections as and when conducted in accordance with its constitution and or prevailing circumstances.
  • Right to contest MGPS elections to be its office bearer in accordance with its constitution and prevailing rules and regulations.
  • Representation as an MGPS member as possible and needed in government and other bodies through MGPS committee.
  • Other benefits as may be made available by the MGPS.

Associate Membership:

  • Recognition as an MGPS member through an identity card, as per applicable validity. Issued digitally.
  • Participating in all academic, social, welfare and other MGPS events as per applicable rules and regulations.
  • Representation as an MGPS member as possible and needed in government and other bodies through MGPS committee.
  • Other benefits as may be made available by the MGPS.

Patron Membership:

  • Recognition as an MGPS member through an identity card, and other ways, with applicable validity, and issued digitally.
  • Participating in all academic, social, welfare and other MGPS events as per applicable rules and regulations.
  • Other benefits as may be made available by the MGPS.
Please note:

All submitted forms will be scruitinised by the MGPS committee for accuracy and authenticity.

Applications meeting all membership criteria will be approved and such applicants will be onboarded as regular members of MGPS. Unapproved applicants will be informed of the committee decision.

An opportunity will be provided to unsuccessful applicants for corrections or resubmissions of relevant documents for reconsideration of their application for approval.

All decisions of the MGPS committee with regard to applications will be final and binding.
